The mythology that provided Wagner with much of his operatic inspiration provides the starting point for this opera; it is based on the epic tale of Odin, Norse god of war and knowledge. In collaboration with Donald Knaack, Composer / Percussionist / Environmentalist from Vermont and Playwrights Workshop from Montreal, Companion Star is producing this innovative "rap" opera, a true environmentally-conscious production with orchestral instruments fashioned entirely from recycled materials. Companion Star's artistic director, Michael Douglas Jones was the music director for a preliminary staging of this opera at NYU in the spring of 2006.
