Companion Star Announces World Premier of "Under Milk Wood: an opera"

Patchogue, NY, March 4, 2014 – Performing arts company, Companion Star, announces the world premiere of, Under Milk Wood: an opera, a new opera based on the original play for voices by Dylan Thomas and composed by Welsh composer John Metcalf.

The premiere weekend is on April 3-5, 2014 at Taliesin Arts Centre in Swansea, Wales. Performances continue throughout Wales at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre in Aberystwyth on April 8, at the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff on April 11-12, and at the Galeri in Caernarfon on April 15.

Under Milk Wood is a co-production with Taliesin Arts Centre (Wales), Le Chien qui chante (Quebec) and Companion Star (New York) and in association with Welsh National Opera, supported by the Arts Council of Wales and the Welsh Government, and part of the Dylan Thomas 100 Festival. 2014 marks the centenary of Dylan Thomas' birth and this opera celebrates one of his most iconic works.
